Car troubles

Well, I didn’t even bother to tell about this because it’s so ludicrous I don’t even want to do there but I guess I will now.

You may recall reading when I said my ass hurt from taking back the car I traded in and losing the money I paid in the difference by doing so. I did this rather than paying another $800 to fix the car I had bought.

At the time all of this took place, I said I was fucked no matter what I did. Turns out I was more fucked than I knew and this is why…..

The engine went out of the car I took back, no bullshit. So there I sit with a car I owe $4000 on with a bad engine. Where’s the choice in that? I found and engine, went 200 miles round trip to get it and paid my brother-in-law (who HATES working on cars) to put the engine in.

I drove the car ONE DAY and something went wrong with the engine I bought. We don’t know what, we just know that it had no oil in it as of Friday night and it was full Friday morning and I didn’t drive that much. Maybe 75 miles. Luckily (if you can call it that) it happened right at my house and it is safely in the garage. The motor wasn’t affected though we don’t know what caused this to happen, my husband has to check it out yet.

There comes a point where I have to wonder what it is that I do to cause these problems. It’s not a poor me thing or what have I done to deserve this but more, what do I do to cause it. I don’t know. Maybe it’s karma biting me in the ass for being a mean bitch, I don’t know.

I just know it’s frustrating.



Dear poo flinger……..

As I was driving down the highway today, I see this guy spreading shit on his field–sort of.

It was quite a windy day and as the guy was right next to the highway. Needless to say, as I’m approaching Mr. Poo Flinger, I say to my husband, “that guy better watch it or he’s going to be spreading shit on the highway”. Well, I wasn’t wrong as it turns out. As we get beside Mr. Poo Flinger, a big old wad of poo goes out across the gravel shoulder and into the highway where I promptly run it over. P-U.

Seething

I have been just seething all afternoon and I still am and will be until I yell at my husband tonight about this. Something is going to change because this shit will NEVER happen again!

It is sufficing to say that I am NOT a social person. I very rarely go to people’s houses (family on holiday if I HAVE to, that’s it) and by the same token I do not want people at my house. This is something that I am very particular about–I don’t DO company. This is no secret though I think my fucking mother-in-law missed the memo but I will guarantee you, she’s getting a REMINDER MEMO.

Since we have moved and are unfortunately living much closer to her now, my mother-in-law seems to think that she can come to my house any time she wants. I have already told my husband that this is NOT going to happen and that if he doesn’t tell her, I will and if I do, he’s not going to like it. Needless to say Mr. Passive doesn’t want to say anything to mommy. TOUGH SHIT. Today was the LAST time this shit will happen.

She shows up dragging her grandson who is 9 months old into my house. I told my husband when he said his mother was outside that this was IT and I said to him, you better say something–I’m not having this. He didn’t say anything so she comes into my house and then proceeds to go into a fit about the baby being all sticky and having spilled a bottle of juice all down himself and THEN she plops him down on my living room carpet–ALL STICKY–and starts peeling his clothes off and plopping them on my carpet. She told my husband to go out and get the diaper bag out of her truck (which he did like a good lap dog) and then she proceeded to change the kid’s diaper on my carpet too. I was not happy and I am still not happy and I am not going to be happy about this EVER.

This is so many kinds of wrong I can’t even begin to list them all. As if barging into my house uninvited isn’t enough, the rest is just so beyond words.

It will absolutely NOT happen again. If she shows up uninvited I will tell her she’s not welcome and that will be that. It’s simple–if I want you at *MY* house, I will invite you to come over…..it’s not an open invitation, it’s a one time deal until the next time I choose to invite you to *MY* house. She will be told, either by Mr. Passive or me but either way NEVER AGAIN!



Just can’t win

My poor dog!!!

There is just no winning with the dog and she’s only a year old. I can’t imagine what “old age” is going to bring with her……if she makes it that far.

I know I mentioned before that the dog was very sick and in fact she was on medication for 2 months. Knock on wood–she’s been well for 2 weeks or should I say she HAD been well for 2 weeks……..last weekend I noticed her limping and found that she had 1 toe that was extremely swollen. After 3 days I decided to take her back to the vet to have it looked at. While at the vet, they gave her antibiotic AGAIN for her toe and also gave her rabies and distemper shots which she was past due for.

Once again, she has swelled up in the area where the shot was given and is lethargic. Last time she had a needle poke, she got a HUGE abscess in the area where she had the poke. There is no winning with this dog at all and the vets are stumped as to what the problem was in the first place or what is causing a needle poke to create an abscess. The best conclusion is that she is extremely prone to infection and must have some type of bacteria in her body that causes these problems.

Free puppies aren’t FREE! Thus far, we’ve spent over $1200 on this FREE PUPPY!

I stopped to talk to a childhood friend today–I hadn’t seen her in a year or so and wanted to catch up. We lived across the street from each other growing up and went out dancing together in adulthood as well. This is someone who I want to keep in touch with (maybe).

We were visiting and then someone came along and my friend said I’ll be right back and went to talk to the other person. I waited there (at least 10 minutes) while she was talking to this person and in the meantime someone called me on my cell phone. I didn’t talk long but my friend never came back anyway while I was on the phone. After I was done on the phone, my friend came over and said to me…….I won’t keep you waiting and she walked back to the people she was talking to :(

Now I know why I don’t do the friend thing, I guess I’m no good at it. I was hurt.

IT IS A FUCKING CONSPIRACY!!!!!!!!!

No matter what I do, nothing goes right!

I had Direct TV at my old house and I wanted to move my service. They finally came today to do that and the guy got everything installed and is gone now so I decide to watch TV. I immediately see that I do not have the same programming that I had, I have far less. WHAT THE FUCK?! Can’t anything go right?

I called the local plebes I got my service through and said HEY–I don’t have the same programming, what’s up with that? The woman said that I would have to call Direct TV customer service (OMG here we go again) and hash that out with them as “someone” had started me a new account (OMG OMG here we go again) instead of just moving my existing account.

I am currently on hold with Direct TV. Of course you have to know that the “someone” who started the new account instead of moving the existing account was the very plebe I talked to at the local place.

Can’t anything go right for me EVER, just once, PLEASE :(



Bundles and more bundles

The latest and greatest things for phone companies is to offer “bundled” services where all of your long distance calls and local calls are included for a set price every month. When this was first offered, in December of 2005, I signed up. At the time I signed up, I was told that the price would remain the same and NEVER go up. They said it will always be this amount.

This held true, BRIEFLY. For December, January, February, and March the amount stayed the same and then in April it went up slightly (6 cents). I called to ask why and they said taxes changed. Then in May, it went up again and again they said it was because taxes changed. Both times, I noted that the amount of the “bundle discount” went down which of course means taxes will go up HERE’S YOUR SIGN.

The bundle discount stayed the same until April of 2007 although the bill always changed in price each month by a few cents some months and a few dollars other months with the phone company not being able to adequately explain the reason. The excuse is always the same–taxes. In April of 2007, the bundle discount again went down which of course again means the bill will go up. Less discount = more taxes. While the phone company can see that the taxes went up they cannot see that the bundle discount has gone down. I have gone around and around with them so many times it’s not funny. They don’t get it. I talked to a supervisor, she couldn’t explain it either. I wanted them to have an actual manager call me. That never happened. I finally said, have someone send me a letter of explanation. They finally did that and can you guess that the letter said your bill has changed only because the taxes charged have gone up. I said FUCK THAT and I filed a complaint with the Department of Ag, Trade, and Consumer Protection which is the government agency that oversees telecommunications. I had forgotten about this until the other say when a letter arrived from the DATCP saying that they had not received a satisfactory response from the phone company and had made a negative entry against them in their records.

Again I say that there has to be grounds for a class action lawsuit here. These rotten fuckers are ripping people off right and left and nothing is getting done about it! Am I the only one anal enough to notice their fucking bill changing prices every month willy nilly even after you’ve been told it will always be this amount?! I swear, I can’t be the only one but maybe I am the only one who will go to any length to do anything about it.

So let’s fast forward again to that whole paying for number portability when they won’t let you do it?! Time to file ANOTHER complaint with the DATCP.

Here’s a side note on this whole con the phone company has going. When I called to order my new phone service the woman asked me if I wanted the bundle like I had on my other line and I said no, I don’t, the price goes up all the time. She proceeded to tell me that the price doesn’t go up, it’s ALWAYS the same. MY ASS!

Why my phone company sucks.

Did I mention there was more?!

As I said previously, when I moved I still had the same phone company though I was in a different telephone exchange (different first 3 digits, same area code). For the past several months I have paid a fee every month on my phone bill for number portability. That’s the big thing now–take your phone number with you. I wanted to take my phone number from my old house to the new house. Can you just guess before I even say?

I called the phone company and said i want to move my number. They said NO, you can’t do that because it’s the same phone company. SAY WHAT?! I am paying a fee every month and I want to actually move my number and I can’t because it’s the same phone company? How fucking pathetic is that! So I devised a plan. I moved my old home number to my cell phone; therefore, it is no longer the same phone company. The number is now a cell number so I figure that there should be no excuse now for not moving the number from the cell company to my new house. YEAH RIGHT! The phone company says I can’t do that because you can’t have one town’s exchange in the other town’s. I said wait a minute here–it’s NOT a phone company number any more, it’s a cell number. They claim it doesn’t matter so I have paid a fee to do something they won’t allow me to do? I think someone really needs to get on this! I think there are grounds for a class action suit there. What bullshit.

Where to even start

First off I want to say that as a rule, I HATE legal monopolies such as the electric company and the phone company. They know you have no choice so they fuck you over time and again be it with rates or “service”. I have had so much trouble with both companies over the years and now that I’m moved, I still have the same two fucking asshole companies to deal with.

You would think that moving your internet (DSL) service when all you’re really doing is packing up your modem and moving it would be simple but evidently NOT!

When I called to order my new phone service, I also said I wanted DSL. On Wednesday (Aug. 29) my new phone was installed at my new house. Mind you, I asked for service to begin on August 31 but oh well, so I pay for 2 extra days…..not a huge deal. When the tech was at my new house installing the phone line, I just happened to be there. It wasn’t planned as he didn’t need to come inside. I talked to him a little bit and asked if he also had the order for my DSL and he said he did and the line was set up for it. He then said “but you wanted 2 phone lines”? I said NO–one phone line. Right there should have been a clue that this whole thing was going to be a fucked up deal! Come to find out that the woman who took my order for new service had some how managed to assign me 2 phone numbers so the tech had spent a long time doing work he didn’t need to do. With that (supposedly) resolved, I moved in last weekend and have been using the DSL since though it has been terribly slow and had speed tested at about 256k when I am paying for 768k.

Last night I finally decided I was tired of this slow shit and called tech support. Why I bothered to call them I don’t know really because I have learned time and again that I know more than they do. You will sometimes get a knowledgeable tech but it’s RARE. When I called last night the tech asked me what my DSL log in was and I told him and then he said that he had 2 accounts for me. One under the login that I gave him and one under my main email address which is one of the accounts under the login. I should explain that with the DSL account you are allowed up to 5 email addresses and I have 4. I have one “email” address that I do not use to get email, it is strictly my login name for the DSL. The tech then went on to say that he couldn’t help me until the issue of having 2 accounts was resolved and said I had to talk to customer service to fix it.

I should have known that at night especially, you do not bother to talk to customer service because they obviously hire monkeys who know how to speak and nothing more to work at night. It wasn’t even that late at night, it was only 7:00 p.m. I hoped there would be more than a single celled organism working “customer service” at that time but I was wrong.

When this guy got on the phone, I immediately knew it wasn’t going to be good because he sounded clueless. You know how you try really hard not to be prejudice or racist but in these situations when you get someone on the phone that speaky little English or in this case can’t talk past their lips, you just KNOW they’re going to fuck it up?! Yeah–it was one of those.

This monkey proceeded to tell me that one of the accounts had to be deleted and then asked me which one to delete. I said to delete the “new” one and then he goes on to ask if I get email at that email address. I said YES–that’s my main email address but it’s listed under my account that I’ve had for years and years. It’s not “new” it’s just how your company listed the account. I said you can’t delete my email address, I use it. He then says he has to delete one of them and there was just no getting him to understand that I was not giving up my email addresses. He put me on hold 20 minutes to check with technical support (you know, the ones who transferred me to him?!) and finally came back and said he deleted the new account and everything would be fine and that because I had 2 accounts that was probably why my internet had been so slow and that if it wasn’t better in a “couple days” to call back. I then asked if I was going to be billed for 2 accounts since last Wednesday and he said no. That little fact is yet to be determined but I’ll bet I have been paying for 2 accounts.

Fast forward to this morning…….I’m emailing away with no problems until I leave my computer for a few minutes and come back and though my DSL is still working, none of my 3 email addresses I use will work. So again, I have to call tech support to find out what the problem is. The lady I talked to today and was very nice and was able to ascertain the problem which of course was the monkey from last night. HE DELETED MY ACCOUNT WITH MY EMAIL ADDRESSES!!!!!!!!!! But wait, it gets better yet. The lady today from tech support asked me to hold while she talked to customer service. After about 5 minutes, she came back on the line with customer service and they proceed to tell me that because the single celled organism fucked up, they have to schedule my DSL to be installed (you know, the DSL I’m using) and that they can’t do that UNTIL NEXT WEEK Wednesday. I do not for the life of me understand why they need to “install” something that is already working and they couldn’t explain. They said it’s their “procedure”. Yeah right–get me the enema bag and some lube because I see where this is going. For whatever reason, they had to go back and reactivate my “old” account that the dumb fuck deleted and because it was deleted, they have “install” my DSL again. That’s as far as I got with it and that’s the best they could explain. I do not understand nor will I ever. It’s already INSTALLED, it’s working–just fix it in your fucking computer, that’s all. But no, that’s not how it works apparently.

In the end, what I was told was that as a bonus, I could use dial up for a week (NOT) until they got this “install” done or go without internet. They did say that my DSL “might” stay working as long as I don’t lose power, unplug the modem, or power cycle it for any reason. Thus far, it is still working but I don’t hold my breath for that to last seeing that my email worked after stupid disconnected it last night too and then all of a sudden it didn’t.

I will say that the lady from tech support was super and she did try to get the “customer service” lady to bump up this “install” as she said it was clearly their error but no, they can’t do that.

All in all it’s a fucked up deal and I know that there will be more bullshit to come with this because I’m sure when the bill comes I’ll find I was being billed for service I never had as well as service at my old house too.

What pisses me off the most is that I called twice to make sure my old account was disconnected because I didn’t want a double billing issues and neither of the people I talked to noticed this double account issue. Actually, the whole situation is ridiculous to say the least and there is more to it yet but I’ll start a new story for that.

Bottom line is that legal monopolies suck. They know they have you by the short and curlies and they take full advantage of it with shitty sub standard service at a highly inflated cost. It’s bullshit!

I just wanted to add to those of you reading this thinking get Vonage or some other type of service like that–it’s not available out here in the sticks. You have the phone company only, no options.



Some funny stories

While preparing to move, one of my jobs was to pack up the cupboards and the freezer. I knew that we had a lot of food that was old and I was determined that we were not moving expired food. I got into the food cupboard and started checking dates and throwing the things away. In the middle of this, my husband came in to see what I was doing and was a little bit unhappy that I was throwing food away. He asked WHAT ARE YOU DOING?! I said I’m throwing this stuff away that’s expired. He says, LIKE WHAT? I said oh….this Hamburger Helper that expired in 2005 he says to me OH….it’s probably still good. I said NO, it’s expired, 2 years ago and it’s going. This theme went on quite a few more times as canned goods and other boxed items went into the trash with him insisting it was probably still good. Needless to say, it stayed in the garbage.

Now, let’s move on to the freezer. We had to pack up the freezer items to move and I arranged to take them to his sister in law overnight so we could move the freezer and GOD FORBID defrost it from it’s inch thick ice. Again it was a bit of an argument of how it didn’t need defrosted. HELLO–it’s got inch thick ice all the way around, it NEEDS defrosted and it’s getting defrosted. There is no better time. So we cross that hurdle and begin with the packing. Again I knew there were old things in the freezer and had commented that things that were no good were getting thrown. As my dear husband started pulling things out and trying to quickly put them in the moving bag, I would say GARBAGE and the arguing would ensue. He pulled from the freezer 6 tv dinners and I immediately said GARBAGE. He says NO—those are are my little snacks. I said YEAH and they have been in there since you were in the hospital, TWO YEARS AGO–THROW THEM AWAY! He gives me a pouting “they’re probably still good” and I said NO, throw them! He reluctantly threw them away.

Oh my god!
